Job Description


The Person:

  • B.Com, CIMA or National Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting.
  • Min 5 years working experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong costing experience essential.
  • Must have worked with Bills of Materials.
The Job:
Report to the Cost & Management Accountant:

Financial Management:
  • Provide guidance and input where necessary to the plant and Finance Managers of the business units on matters impacting profitability.
  • Review the accuracy of plant bills of materials and standard margins and provide guidance on corrective actions where applicable.
  • Stock in transit accounting.
Bill of Materials:
  • Oversee costing system to ensure accuracy at all times.
  • Monthly comparison of standard cost changes.
  • Verify accuracy of costings versus process documents.
  • Update raw material cost and item master information on Syspro.
  • Cost differential exercises.
  • Assist with the efficient functioning of works orders.
  • Assist Cost and Management Accountant with material usage analysis.
Management Reporting:
  • Steel price trend analysis and reporting.
  • Customer sales analysis.
  • Customer profitability.
  • RTM and product margin analysis.
  • Weekly stock on hold report and drive action.
  • Repairs and maintenance cost analysis.
Fixed Assets:
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of fixed assets on Syspro.
  • Complete Capex applications.
  • Asset disposals.
  • Ensure physical verification of assets occurs.
Government Grants:
  • Prepare applications for qualifying government grants.
  • Attend to all queries from applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Attend to queries on APDP BOM masterfiles.
Reporting:
  • Analyse and interpret Finance reports and statistical data.
  • Prepare financial reports and returns as required.
  • Generate information and reports.
Sales and Raw Materials Price Control:
  • Capture and maintain customer and raw material pricing against approved price lists.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Strong debtors experience in managing a large book.
  • Costing and creditors knowledge.

  • Knowledge of MS Office and Syspro.
