Our well-established multinational PPE company invites applications for an
Assistant Branch Manager
in Cape Town to support and work alongside the Branch Manager.
Duties include the overseeing of daily operations, assisting with the management of the on-site team, oversee that the work being carried out, leading staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, staff supervision (scheduling, training, coaching), handling escalated customer issues, opening/closing the branch and stepping in as manager when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Supervision:
Recruit, train, coach and schedule employees; monitor performance and conduct reviews. During absenteeism, ensure adequate cover at all times, arranging load sharing. Assist with ensuring continuous training and development of the branch staff, book training sessions, and hold regular update meetings on a weekly or monthly basis.
Liaise with the HR department to resolve staffing issues and hire and train any new employees.
Customer Service:
Resolve complex customer complaints, provide expert assistance, and foster positive relationships.
Operations Management:
Oversee daily branch activities, handle opening/closing of business, and ensure smooth workflows.
Sales & Goals:
Assist the Branch manager in her sales drive initiatives, monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and help meet branch targets.
Compliance, Maintenance & Security:
Ensure that the branch operates in line with opening and closing hours and in line with regulator guidance. Ensure adherence to company policies, and act as an emergency contact. Organize branch upgrades, repairs, and services to equipment when required.
Reporting & Administration:
Ensure the necessary reporting is available to the Branch Manager.
Leadership:
Act as the primary manager in the Branch Manager's absence when requested to do so.
Core Skills Needed
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service, organizational, and analytical abilities.
Proficiency with relevant computer software.
Requirements
Tertiary qualification, or equivalent working experience
Minimum 2 years' experience within a management or supervisory based role
Well-developed customer service skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good leadership skills
Effective delegator
Demonstrated analytical skills
Strong report writing skills
Great math skills
Adept with using computer programs such as Excel, Outlook, or other software as required
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience in the PPE industry would be an advantage
