Role Purpose
To support the Asset Origination team in identifying and originating listed credit assets within the South African credit market by conducting detailed research, analysing market trends, evaluating issuer fundamentals, and providing insights that enhance portfolio yield and support strategic investment objectives

Duties & Responsibilities
INTERNAL PROCESS:
In evaluating new investment opportunities, assist transactors in the detailed transaction research and due diligence, including the review and analysis of financial and non-financial information
Research, evaluate and make sense of financial information, particularly related to South African's general credit market, Shareholder Guaranteed credit portfolio and macro and micro economy
Stay abreast of trends, regulations and news, such as competitive position and financial stability of organisations, in order to identify potential credit and portfolio performance risks proactively
Design, define, and develop cashflow models to stress-test deals from a financial performance risk perspective
Assist asset origination senior transactors and LDI portfolio managers in running capital numbers and pricing models, taking into consideration market data on pricing
Communicate with asset origination deal makers, BSM quants, BSM credit and LDI portfolio managers on research findings
Participate in asset origination team meetings and client meetings to share recommendations and ideas
Maintain advanced knowledge of fixed income markets
Assist in the sourcing of listed market opportunities, managing the process internally for listed corporate bonds and ensuring the transactions are closed accordingly
Maintain dashboards on market movements and pipeline opportunities.
Provide regular reports on credit spreads, liquidity, and issuance volumes.
Prepare quarterly asset origination reports based on performance for portfolio performance quarterly meetings and for the Head of BSM and the Financial Director. This provides insight into BU's performance against the market.
CLIENT PROCESS:
Building relationships with Banking Partners, Client Treasury Departments and other relevant stakeholders (internal and external).
Provide advice to the BSM Capital Management team on raising funding in the bond market with a particular focus on the pricing of the bonds.
