Job Purpose
Ensuring the integrity and smooth running of the examination process in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining a secure and calm environment that enables all students to perform to the best of their abilities. This includes overseeing exam sessions, distributing and collecting examination materials, enforcing examination regulations and reporting any irregularities or breaches of conduct.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Successful candidates must ascribe to the following:
Minimum Matric (National Senior Certificate). Post matric qualifications will be advantageous.
Must be below 60 years of age at the time of appointment
No criminal record
Knowledge of invigilation procedures for both computers based and paper-based examination.
1 - 2 years' experience as an invigilator or in an educational environment is advantageous.
In excellent physical and mental state of health
Must be willing and able to walk and stand during two exam sessions per day.
Must reside within a 20 km radius of the CPUT Wellington Campus.
Must not be a registered student
Willing to invigilate at a short notice
Must conduct themselves in a professional manner, be assertive, and must have a sense of authority.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Prepare and set up examination venues according to required standards.
Verify student identity and ensure accurate attendance records.
Distribute and collect examination materials securely and efficiently.
Monitor students throughout the examination to prevent academic dishonesty and report any irregularities.
Announce start, end times and read examination rules at the examination venues.
Handle queries and incidents calmly and professionally, reporting as required.
Ensure secure and organised return of scripts and materials post-examination.
Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.
