Overview A mid-sized and dynamic accounting and auditing firm in Alberton is seeking a dedicated and motivated Articles Clerk. This is a three-year training contract for a recent BCom graduate who is looking to start professional articles, with the aim of qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (SA) or Professional Accountant (SA). The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment, covering a wide range of accounting, auditing, and tax duties under the mentorship of senior professional Key responsibilities
Accounting and Bookkeeping:
Perform bookkeeping to trial balance for a portfolio of clients.
Process financial transactions, including bank reconciliations, creditors, and debtors.
Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Auditing and Financial Reporting:
Assist senior accountants and auditors with audit fieldwork and documentation
Prepare working papers and contribute to the drafting of annual financial statements in accordance with relevant standards (e.g., IFRS).
Taxation:
Assist with the preparation and submission of various tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, and individual and company income tax.
Handle SARS-related tasks and queries.
Perform ad-hoc administrative and accounting tasks as required.
Ensure all SAICA/SAIPA training and registration paperwork is completed and submitted timeously.
Qualifications and requirements
A completed BCom Accounting or equivalent degree SAIPA-accredited institution.
No prior work experience is necessary, but a strong theoretical understanding of accounting, auditing, and tax is essential.
Must be immediately available to start.
Must be committed to pursuing a career as a Professional Accountant (SA) by completing a three-year articles contract
