ART TEACHER The French High School of Cape Town is currently looking for an Art teacher. The position starts in January 2024 with four hours of teaching per week. The teacher must follow the curriculum of Art Study from the French National Education Department to shape his/her teaching methods. Art is one of the two compulsory artistic subjects part of the studentxe2x80x99s general education. Representation, Materiality and Works are the three main keynotes of the tuition. After each grade cycle, those keynotes become more ambitious and more demanding. Teaching Art in grades 6 to 9 is based on developing large skills, such as doing art in a relation to the artistic creation. It offers the way to get an informed and critical look on art but also on the visual universes to whom it makes reference, either artistic or not. Skills to develop: - Experiment, produce, create - Organise a project - Express itself, understand its work and the work of the others - Get a good knowledge of the Arts The teacher can be English speaking and teach the class in English but, he/she will have to keep in mind that most of our students are French speaking. Moreover, the points listed above must be respected. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Must be South African citizen/permanent resident or have a valid work visa Bilingual English / French (Advantageous) Experience in a French school abroad (advantageous) Key Responsibilities: Plan, develop and implement art and art history curriculum to meet learning goals. Deliver lectures to students on art, art techniques, art history and aesthetics Competencies: Creative ability Interpersonal skills Job Type: Part-time Expected hours: 4 per week
