RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be responsible to take lead in seed production activities and execution of crop management protocols to meet the requested quantity and quality of vegetable seeds within the specified area.

Duties will include the following:

• Representing the company as the main contact for seed growers and third-party producers, building a dependable grower base and fostering sustainable relationships
• Assisting with all aspects of seed production, from soil preparation to post-harvest activities, including harvest, threshing, and pre-cleaning tasks
• Developing new growers in the region and improving growing methods to enhance overall crop quality
• Guiding growers on best practices in crop management including rogueing, field isolation, rotation, irrigation, chemical/fertilizer application, harvesting techniques, and seed cleaning.
• Ensuring production goals are met for both yield and quality by identifying challenges and offering recommendations for improvement
• Maintaining accurate records of ongoing productions while managing nicking trials, production research trials, field inspections/certifications, supervising rogue crews field inspections / certifications
• Collaborating with Area Production Manager to enhance country-wide seed production capabilities, maintaining area-specific protocols and actively participating in a global collaboration platform

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Agriculture or a Bachelors degree in Agriculture Sciences or Agricultural Management
• Minimum 3 years working experience in Vegetable Seed production
• Knowledge of seed production techniques and seed processing technologies
• Familiarity with production research practices
• SANSOR trained and authorized inspector or in the process of obtaining SANSOR Phytosanitary Inspectors accreditation
• Preferably holds Pesticide (AVCASA) and Fertilizer (BASOS) consultants accreditation
