Job brief



TSU Protection Service is looking for an Area Manager (AM) who would be responsible for the operational management at all Security Contracts, including but not limited to the management of Management Systems, the Guard Forces including guards with K9, vehicles, fire-arms, equipment, the safety programs, the budgeting processes and budget control of all the contracts, the support of quotations, site evaluations, preparation for site deployment, the measurements and analyses of sites for improvement as well as the performance of personnel in general.





1. JOB PURPOSE:



The major objectives and initiatives of this position are as follows :



1) To continuously improve the quality of the services and performance of guards and other personnel ( i.e, reduce the number of complaints per guard )



2) To meet or exceed the objectives and targets specified



3) To improve the productivity of the guard forces and other personnel



4) To improve the profitability of the contracts



5) To continuously reduce the expenditure of the contracts on all cost items (at least less than the budget)



6) To continuously reduce maintenance and fuel costs on vehicles as well as fines



7) To continuously reduce the number of customer complaints (number of complaints as a percentage of the number of customers)



8) To continuously reduce the number of theft cases and property damage cases at customer sites (number of cases per site)



9) To reduce sick leave (total days sick leave as a percentage of total days worked)



10 To have no Contract Breaches



11) Minimum of 10 client visits per year per client



12) To reduce the number of incidents and accidents by inspectors and guards (percentage per guard employed ) as well as the number of injuries of all personnel

3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES



3.1 Management to ensure above-average performance by personnel, as well as a service that at least meets customer requirements



3.2 Regular site visits and observations



3.2 Site Evaluations



3.4 Client visits and liaison



3.5 Strategic planning for all operations (contracts), including training requirements



3.6 To ensure the correct and qualitative completion of customer documents and other documents at all contracts through daily audits



3.7 Prevention/reduction of theft or damage of customer property, materials, or equipment



3.8 Client satisfaction / formal investigations of all complaints and written investigation reports to customers by all contracts



3.9 Quality Management System at all contracts



3.10 Vehicle management (maintenance and fuel costs and elimination of fines)



3.11 Ensure Approvals of exceptions/changes to posting sheets for payroll (payment) purposes



3.12 All Area expenses, including expenses related to vehicles, materials, and equipment utilized by the Area (expenses against each cost item in the budget)



3.14 Assistance with disciplinary and grievance inquiries



3.15 Initiation of disciplinary inquiries involving direct reports



3.16 Labour Relations - ensure that procedures applied are in line with labour laws and regulations





4. CONTEXT



a) OPERATING ENVIRONMENT



Interact with customers (Senior Management, Middle Management, and supervision) to communicate changes in/to operational methods /strategies. Meetings with customers, visits to customer sites. Guards operating on/at customer sites



b) FRAMEWORK AND BOUNDARIES



Operate within the framework of the BCE Act, Skills Development Act, and the Labour Relations ACT, the Firearms and Controls Act, the Access to Public and Vehicles Act, Act 53 of 1985, Legal Succession Act 9 of 1989, as well as company policies and principles under the direction of the Operations Director

6. JOB SPECIFICATIONS



Knowledge:



Degree or equivalent and 5-6 years of experience in security



Operations management, as well as proficiency in English and a good knowledge of



current BCEA and labour legislation, and other legislation relevant to the Security Industry



Skills:



Negotiation and communication skills



Training Requirements:

10. CONTROL:



10.1 Control the costs and the spending of the contracts to be less than the budget



10.2 Control the spending on vehicle maintenance and fuel



10.3 Ensure that all contracts follow the Quality Management System procedures and instructions
