The Airfield Manager is responsible for airfield operations functions and activities. Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, personnel, and services at assigned airfield ensuring quality to the customer The airfield manager works closely with MNG aviation requirements that generate rules and regulations for all aspects of airfield business and security. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of airfield management and the management and execution of all functions, activities, and operational procedures in support of Customer fixed wing and rotary wing operations. Responsible for supporting the safe operation, employment, maintenance, and flight procedures of all rotary wing aircraft:
  • Inspection of airfield for compliance with applicable directives, areas requiring repair or maintenance, and potential situations or problems affecting safe flight operations.
  • Establishment of guidelines and standards for airfield inspections ICW customer and USG oversight.
  • Determine, coordinate, and prioritize all construction or repair of airfield and associated facilities.
  • Independence: Reports to the Brigade Support Operations Manager. Works within the rules and regulations of Army airfield operations guidelines. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.
  • Orchestrate and manage daily and long-range utilization of the airfield to ensure accomplishment of assigned missions and maximum support for flight operations.
  • Manage Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) and Wildlife Control programs as required.
  • Formulate and implement procedures for control of vehicles and pedestrians on the airfield, aircraft parking, and proper positioning of aircraft with hazardous cargo and xe2x80x9chotxe2x80x9d armament.
  • Assist the Aviation and Operations Division Manager in the development and formulation of advanced planning, coordinating, monitoring and implementation of policy, procedures and directives associated with rotary wing operational and training requirements to include transient aircraft.
  • Provide technical expertise during complex deployments and exercises.
  • Under the direction of DAT and ICW the Aviation Training and Support Manager, coordinate the overall aviation support elements of the Airfield Operations organization.
  • Conducts OJT of customer designated personnel in airfield Operations procedures.
  • Facilitates coordination between, Air Traffic Control, Emergency Services, and all other relevant airfield agencies.

Qualifications:
Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Associate degree required, Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: 15 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in Aviation Operations required.
  • Five years minimum experience as a Military (1C7X1 SEI 368 or equivalent) or Civilian Airfield Manager desired.
  • Aviation Operations or Airfield Management experience within the last 5-years preferred.

Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
  • Must possess an understanding of Aviation Operations Management specific to rotary wing aircraft.
  • Demonstrated performance in the management of Aviation Operations activities from previous job positions.
  • A working knowledge of the employment of weather and ATC support in airfield operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people in the supervision of staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Possess a valid driverxe2x80x99s license.

Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the management, training, evaluation, and advancement process for assigned airfield support staff. The airfield operations support staff may include, but not limited to flight operations specialists, weather support staff, Maintainers, Safety personnel, Transient Alert, and Aviation Fuel Inspector/Handlers.
