Duties and responsibilities:

  • Handle all reception and administrative organisation of the Wynand Mouton Theatre.
  • Control and management of theatre rentals for Wynand Mouton, Scaena Theatre and Rehearsal Room.
  • Handle foyer management duties in the Wynand Mouton Theatre during outside and module production after hours.
  • Responsible for all relevant ad hoc and foyers personnel during outside productions/events and module productions.
  • Manage and control of Wynand Mouton Theatre access.
  • Share responsibility with the Technical Theatre Manager for the Wynand Mouton Theatre's security, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • General administration, support and tasks as required by the department.
  • Responsible for marketing regarding media outlets, UFS digest, social media.
  • Responsible for archiving all press releases, posters, reviews, programmes, news items, etc of Student Theatre Productions and Staff achievements.
  • Handle all relevant financial administration.
  • Responsible for managing and controlling the Garderobe and Prop shop in the Wynand Mouton Theatre.
  • Willing to teach academic units as the department requires on an adhoc basis.
Inherent Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma/BTech degree/postgraduate certificate on NQF Level 7 or a three-year national diploma on NQF Level 6 in Drama and Theatre Arts.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
  • Proven knowledge and work experience in Arts Management.
Recommendations:
  • Certificate on NQF Level 7 or a three-year national diploma on NQF Level 6 in Arts Management.
  • Experience within the higher-education environment.
  • Experience in the Performing Arts, Theatre Technical Management and Arts Management.
  • Knowledge of university systems, policies and procedure.
