JOB OVERVIEW
The Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing a team to ensure the efficient and effective execution of tasks and projects within the business. The individual will act as a mentor, coach, and key point of contact between the team and management, working to foster a positive team culture while ensuring that operational goals are met. The Team Leader will be expected to lead by example, drive performance, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEADERSHIP & TEAM DEVELOPMENT:
o Lead, motivate, and inspire a team to meet performance and quality objectives.
o Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, encouraging open communication and team engagement.
o Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
o Identify skill gaps and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to team members.
o Address and resolve any team-related conflicts or issues in a constructive manner.
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
o Plan, organize, and oversee the execution of day-to-day tasks to ensure efficiency and high-quality results.
o Ensure team members meet or exceed production, performance, and customer service targets.
o Monitor and manage team workflow, ensuring deadlines are met, and quality standards are maintained.
o Coordinate with other teams and departments to align on goals, timelines, and priorities.
STRATEGIC PLANNING & PROBLEM-SOLVING:
o Collaborate with management to set both short-term and long-term goals for the team.
o Proactively identify challenges or potential roadblocks and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
o Analyze team performance data and suggest improvements for productivity, efficiency, and quality.
COMMUNICATION & REPORTING:
o Act as a liaison between upper management and the team, ensuring key messages are clearly communicated both ways.
o Provide regular updates to senior management on team progress, challenges, and successes.
o Prepare and present reports on team performance, achievements, and areas for improvement.
o Communicate expectations, changes, and updates effectively to the team to ensure alignment.
CUSTOMER FOCUS:
o Ensure the team maintains a strong customer focus and meets or exceeds customer expectations in all deliverables.
o Handle escalated customer issues or concerns and collaborate with the team to resolve them in a timely and professional manner.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:
o Continuously monitor and evaluate team processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
o Implement best practices and process changes that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
o Lead or participate in initiatives aimed at improving team performance or implementing new tools and technologies.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND COMPLIANCE:
o Ensure the team adheres to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times.
o Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment that promotes productivity and well-being.
o Conduct safety and compliance training sessions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
o Matric certificate.
o Previous experience in leadership and sales
o Experience in the telecommunications industry an advantage.
o Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
o Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
o Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
o Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
o High level of motivation and the ability to inspire others to reach their full potential.
o Ability to adapt to changing environments and work under pressure.
o Strong organizational and planning skills.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
o Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
o Must have own reliable vehicle with a valid South African Driver's licence.
