ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Location: Remote | South Africa
Working Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Flexible (40 hours/week). Standard work hours are 7am -1pm EST with flexibility for the remaining hours.
Salary: $1,500-$1,800 USD/month

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to serve as a key leader within our organization and a trusted, client-facing representative of the firm. This role goes beyond traditional bookkeeping and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can think critically through complex issues, and enjoys helping lead and organize a growing team.
The Accounting Manager will:

• Present financial reports and reporting packets to clients
• Act as a primary point of contact for client questions
• Oversee and coordinate work completed by the overseas bookkeeping team
• Proactively identify and resolve issues before they escalate
• Serve as a right-hand partner to owner by assisting with special projects, delegation, and operational organization

Strong communication skills, leadership ability, and sound accounting judgment are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Client-Facing & Reporting

• Prepare, review, and present monthly financial statements and reporting packets to clients
• Explain financial results clearly and confidently to non-accounting stakeholders
• Respond to client questions and proactively identify areas of concern or improvement
• Maintain strong client relationships through professional, timely communication

Accounting Oversight

• Review full-cycle bookkeeping completed by the overseas team for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations are completed correctly and on time
• Review journal entries, adjustments, and supporting documentation
• Ensure adherence to U.S. accounting standards and internal best practices

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Manage and support the overseas accounting team by providing guidance, feedback, and clarification
• Act as an intermediary between owner and the overseas team to resolve questions efficiently
• Help prevent issues by identifying trends, errors, or process gaps early

Operational & Strategic Support

• Assist owner with special projects, process improvements, and internal initiatives
• Help organize, delegate, and prioritize work across clients and the internal team
• Support workflow management using tools such as Asana and SharePoint
• Contribute to the ongoing development of systems and procedures as the firm grows

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience with strong full-cycle knowledge
• Advanced experience with QuickBooks Online (certification required)
• Strong understanding of U.S. accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial statements
• Proven experience in a client-facing role, presenting and explaining financials
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Demonstrated leadership skills or experience overseeing the work of others
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and thrive in a fast-growing environment
• Comfort working remotely with reliable internet and professional workspace
• Experience with Asana, SharePoint, or similar task/time management tools
