Job Summary
Hire Resolve is currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant with proven experience in a recognised Financial Services Provider (FSP) environment. Our client, a key player in the wealth and insurance sector, is looking to strengthen their finance team with an individual who brings technical accounting expertise and industry-relevant knowledge. This is a permanent opportunity based in Pretoria or Bellville, offering the chance to contribute meaningfully to a fast-paced, professional organisation.
Responsibilities
1. Procurement and Suppliers
Review source documents.
Ensure adherence to internal policies, budgets, and approval limits.
Check completeness of supporting documentation.
Monitor supplier payment terms.
Support procurement-related duties as required.
2. General Accounting & Reconciliations
Review cash books, bank/supplier reconciliations, and fixed asset registers.
Process and review complex journal entries.
Prepare and validate reconciliation schedules for key accounts.
Ensure the integrity of all accounting transactions.
Oversee intercompany and related party transactions and confirmations.
Review payroll and instructions from Group.
Analyze and resolve aged receivables/payables issues.
Assist in additional general ledger activities.
3. Management Information
Prepare accurate management accounts and supporting schedules.
Maintain and update forecasts and budgets.
Develop and improve management reporting templates.
Support broader finance team initiatives.
4. Sales Function
Maintain revenue calculations and validate inputs from approved sources.
Ensure accuracy of system-generated revenue.
Manage customer collections and AUM summaries.
Support sales-related financial processes.
5. Treasury & Financial Soundness
Review bookkeeper's outputs.
Prepare short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
Monitor liquidity, cash holdings, CAR, and solvency ratios.
May act as payment releaser/approver on banking platforms.
Assist with other treasury functions as needed.
6. Taxation
Prepare VAT reconciliations and working papers.
Maintain SARS balance reconciliations.
Prepare tax computations for monthly/annual reporting.
Submit DWT returns and maintain valid tax clearance.
Ensure compliance with all tax payment deadlines.
Address audit queries and support tax obligations.
7. Audit and Year-End
Serve as key liaison with auditors and Group finance.
Prepare annual financial statements.
8. Special Projects
Lead execution and monitoring of assigned finance-related projects.
9. Strategic and Other Areas
Attend and contribute to meetings and planning sessions.
Provide subject matter input on financial strategies and policies.
Deliver training or presentations to team members.
Engage in complex decision-making and analysis.
10. Other (Company-Specific)
Additional duties as specified by the client's division.
Requirements
Formal Education:
BCom or BCompt (Accounting) or equivalent qualification.
Experience Requirements:
Accountant I:
Completed articles or 5 years' experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
Experience within a recognised Financial Services Provider (FSP) is required.
Accountant II:
Completed articles and 3 years' experience in accounting/bookkeeping OR 8 years' experience.
Experience within a recognised Financial Services Provider (FSP) is required.
Critical Competencies
Knowledge
Strong grasp of accounting principles and practices.
Industry-specific financial reporting in FSPs.
Proficiency in SAGE X3, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
