Accountant

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

:

Must have a Degree or Diploma in Accounting. Must have 3 to 5 years of Accounting experience. Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong proficiency in Pastel Accounting Software is advantageous. Must have strong English verbal and written communication skills. No criminal record. Must be trustworthy and reliable. Must have strong administrative and attention to detail skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Checking of Supplier invoices, debit/credit notes, GRVs, utility bills, payments, and updating of batches in Pastel. Checking of Supplier reconciliations and monthly payments. Checking of Wages fortnightly and Salaries monthly, and submitting for authorisation to the Director. Physically verifying cash. Processing all payments including Suppliers, Salaries, and Wages via online Banking. Updating and opening of new Suppliers, Expenses, and Asset Accounts in Pastel. Reconciling Intercompany and Deferment Accounts monthly, and processing payment. Preparing and submitting monthly VAT Returns and payment online, and ensuring timely processing of VAT refunds. Liaising with SARS, Department of Trade & Industry for renewal of Company certificates and licenses. Filing and arranging documentation for assigned tasks. Overseeing Debtors and Creditors Clerks, organising team meetings fortnightly, setting interim objectives, and developing action plans to achieve such objectives.
