The Account is responsible for preparing, analysing and reporting on financial records ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information and compliance with regulations, best practice standards and company policies and procedures. The purpose of this role is to provide financial guidance, planning, and advice to management staff, with the aim of making their business more profitable. The role has a responsibility to forecast revenue, provide insightful reports to leadership, and advise on the financial implications of strategic decisions. The requirement is to develop, analyse and interpret financial information that will be used in the business for decision making around optimisation of costs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards and company policies, including but not limited to: monthly business unit financial review pack, monthly revenue analysis, monthly branch P&L's
Ensure accurate allocation of cost to support management decision making
Develop cost to serve models by client, service type and operating area to assist in onboarding new clients as well as analysing and improving GP margins on existing clients.
Analyse financial data to summarise financial statuses and identify insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and support decision-making specifically around overtime & headcount management of operational staff as well as reducing sub-contractor cost incurred as a result of operational recoveries due to service failures.
Implement financial reporting systems to automate monthly reports where possible to eliminate the "human error" factor and to comply with government regulations, legislation and changes in IFRS.
Assist with completing monthly closing processes.
Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and adherence with turnaround times.
Assist with preparing regulatory and management reports and presentations ensuring accuracy and adherence with deadlines.
Maintain and update accounting records and files in accordance with regulations, best practices, policies and procedures.
Support with developing, maintaining, and analysing budgets.
Prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs.
Prepare daily EBITDA Forecast dashboard updates.
Prepare quarterly EBITDA forecast for the remainder of the current financial year.
Prepare and submit tax and VAT returns in line with relevant financial regulations.
Ensure compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
Inspect account books and accounting systems to ensure accuracy.
Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Prepare all balance sheet recons monthly with proof of review.
Assist with executing external auditing processes.
Manage the organisation's risk exposure through the identification and maintenance of risk control measures to minimise liability.
Monitor and ensure adherence to statutory regulations, best practice standards, policies and procedures.
Understand the needs and requirements of internal and external stakeholders.
Build effective relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are met in accordance with service level agreements, plans, policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
JOB - RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum:
3-5 years of experience in a similar role (Essential)
Grade 12 (Essential)
Bachelor of Commerce in Finance/ Accounting or equivalent (Essential)
Completed articles (Desirable)
Required Knowledge:
Knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles
Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel
Knowledge of ORACLE will be an advantage
Knowledge of financial modelling, costing, and pricing principles
