Role Overview
An established operator in the renewable energy and power generation sector is seeking an experienced Accountant to support the financial management of operational utility-scale power plants.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely accounting and financial reporting across multiple operating assets, while partnering closely with operations teams to drive plant performance, efficiency, and compliance. Occasional travel to operational sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and manage monthly transactional and reporting processes, including accruals, provisions, loan amortisations, and intercompany transactions
Invoice revenue and prepare monthly accounting entries
Maintain fixed asset registers, including asset additions and disposals
Prepare balance sheet and key income statement reconciliations
Review bank and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by finance administrators
Prepare financial inputs and analysis for monthly shareholder, stakeholder, and board reports, including variance explanations
Compile year-end reporting packs
Complete and submit statutory tax returns, including VAT and withholding tax
Cash Flow Management
Monitor and ensure timeous collection of debtors and payment of creditors
Prepare cash flow forecasts and identify variances or shortfalls against budget
Maintain debt schedules and manage debt repayments
Statutory & Compliance Reporting
Provide financial inputs for lender and statutory reporting
Complete ad hoc compliance reports for regulatory and statutory bodies (e.g. Stats SA, NERSA)
Report quarterly procurement spend to support economic development requirements
Budgeting & Forecasting
Partner with operations teams during budgeting and forecasting cycles
Upload approved budgets into the accounting system
Accounts Payable Oversight
Review payment proposals prepared by finance administrators prior to processing
Broader Finance & Operations Support
Provide ad hoc support across finance and operations, including BBBEE reporting, vendor management, and economic development reporting
Support additional finance-related responsibilities across the broader group as required
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent NQF qualification
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience working with an ERP system
Experience loading payments on a banking platform
Solid understanding of financial systems, processes, and internal controls
Experience in a shared services environment (advantageous)
Experience in a multi-entity or multi-company environment (advantageous)
Experience in an asset-intensive organisation (advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
Advanced Excel and strong MS Word skills; working knowledge of PowerPoint
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting capability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Delivery-focused with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Able to work independently with limited supervision
Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
Willingness and ability to learn quickly
Knowledge of the renewable energy sector and utility-scale wind or solar projects (advantageous)
Valid driver's licence
