Introduction
Our Retail client, a well-established and reputable company based in Sandton, is seeking a skilled and driven Account Manager ( In Retention Department) to join their dynamic team. This position is ideal for a professional who is fluent in Afrikaans, confident in client engagement, and experienced in managing and retaining key accounts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with clients, driving revenue growth, and consistently achieving sales and retention targets. This is a hands-on position that requires excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and revenue targets.
  • Manage and maintain an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring proactive and regular engagement.
  • Develop and manage a retention sales pipeline to meet and exceed performance objectives.
  • Build credibility with clients through deep understanding of their business needs.
  • Address and resolve client concerns efficiently within required turnaround times.
  • Prepare and submit client documentation and negotiate with the credit department when necessary.
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Demonstrate tenacity and resilience in a competitive market.
  • Prepare progress, forecast, and performance reports for management.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence business processes to support retention goals.
Requirements
Technical Skills
  • Fluent in Afrikaans (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of sales principles and processes.
  • Proven sales and closing ability.
  • Experience in process and data quality management.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM software (Salesforce highly advantageous).
Interpersonal & Other Skills
  • Strong ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Professional, results-driven, and service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum qualification: Diploma or equivalent (NQF 6).
  • Proven success in account management, client retention, and upselling.
  • Experience managing a high volume of clients via email, phone, and digital channels.
