Eduvos is looking to employ the services of an Academic Head of Programmes for our Commerce Faculty on a permanent basis to be based at any of our National Eduvos campuses.

Puropose of the role:
To lead the Commerce faculty in Eduvos, taking responsibility for the overall strategy of full qualifications and ensuring that the quality standards, as prescribed by the regulators, are met.
Special work arrangements:

  • National role
  • Hybrid working model
  • Occasional travel required
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Educational Level:
  • Relevant PhD in Commerce, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g. SAICA, CIMA, IIBA, etc.) is advantageous
Minimum Experience:
  • At least ten years' experience in the Higher Education; with a minimum of five years in academic leadership or programme management within a Commerce or Business faculty / Business School / relevant academic environment
  • Experience in leading curriculum design, accreditation processes, and stakeholder engagement in the commerce field is essential
Duties and Responsibilities
As the Academic Head of Programmes for the Commerce Faculty, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Accountability Areas:
  • Accountable for the overall performance of the Commerce Faculty - design and delivery of all academic offerings
  • Management:
  • Commerce Faculty Strategy implementation through business and operational plans, objectives and schedules
  • Commerce Faculty Strategy implementation through monitoring, control and corrective action
  • Commerce Faculty Reporting and metrics
  • Manage Workflow and alignment with other departments / silos (cross boundary alignment)
  • Address and resolve escalated Commerce Faculty related issues (escalations, decision making and problem solving)
  • Ensure sufficient resourcing and capacity management (people; infrastructure; systems; technology; equipment; facilities)
  • Ensure operational efficiency (processes, governance, systems, standards, compliance, methodologies)
  • Leadership:
  • Formulate Commerce Faculty strategy, direction, and contribution to Academic stategy (direction setting)
  • Responcible for Commerce Faculty talent acquisition, selection, onboarding and succession
  • Implement and maintain individual performance enhancement process
  • Responsible for Commerce Faculty related training and development
  • Responsible for a healty Faculty culture and climate
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communications:
  • Internal and external stakeholder engagement and management / collaboration (strong external focus required)
  • Participate in Advisory Boards and accreditation / professional bodies
  • Liaise with accreditation and professional bodies
Functional and Behavioural Competencies
Functional Competencies:
  • Demonstrated, thorough knowledge of the South African higher education environment, as well as the national and international realities of this sector
  • Deep understanding of the Council on Higher Education (CHE) regulatory framework and SAQA/NQF alignment specific to commerce qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of curriculum development, assessment and the facilitation of learning via multiple modes of provision (including hybrid and distance modes)
  • Excellent presentation and multi-stakeholder engagement skills - for both business and academic environments
  • Ability to represent Eduvos in professional commerce education forums, industry networks, and international academic partnerships
  • Experienced in teaching change in evolving commerce education contexts (e.g., digital transformation, ESG, AI in business)
  • Know-how regarding the development, maintenance and quality assurance of faculty related programmes within a qualification
