Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3rd Line Projects Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering complex IT projects, providing advanced technical support, and ensuring the stability and scalability of infrastructure solutions. This role involves both hands-on technical expertise and close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the implementation and delivery of infrastructure and IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specification. Provide advanced 3rd line technical support for escalated incidents and service requests. Design, configure, and deploy solutions across servers, networks, cloud platforms, and applications. Collaborate with project managers and business stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Document project designs, configurations, and handover materials for support teams. Conduct system upgrades, migrations, and integrations with minimal disruption. Ensure all solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards. Provide mentoring and guidance to 1st and 2nd line teams as required. Keep abreast of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.

Knowledge & Understanding

Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Azure). Proficiency in virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V). Solid understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching). Experience with storage solutions, backup technologies, and disaster recovery planning. Familiarity with IT security frameworks and practices. Understanding of project delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2).

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a 2nd/3rd line support role, with at least 2 years focused on project delivery. Proven track record of delivering IT infrastructure projects in medium to large organisations. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
