Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our growing IT team. This role is critical in providing advanced technical support and infrastructure management across our systems, with a particular focus on Linux server environments and SQL database administration.

As a senior point of escalation, you will be responsible for resolving complex issues, maintaining system stability, and contributing to infrastructure improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for technology.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a senior escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support teams. Troubleshoot and resolve high-level incidents across servers, networks, and applications. Administer, maintain, and optimise Linux server infrastructure. Manage and support SQL databases, including performance tuning, backups, and recovery. Monitor system performance and ensure infrastructure reliability and security. Contribute to the development and implementation of technical standards and procedures. Participate in infrastructure projects and system upgrades. Liaise with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors as needed. Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and changes.
Required Skills and Experience

Proven experience in a 3rd line or senior infrastructure support role. Strong proficiency with Linux operating systems (preferably Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL). Solid experience in SQL database administration, query writing, and performance tuning. Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs). Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell). Exposure to ITIL practices and service desk tools. Relevant certifications (e.g., LPIC, RHCE, Microsoft, or similar).

Pay: R45000,00 - R61000,00 per month
