Main purpose of the job

Provide overall leadership and direction for the strategic implementation of a comprehensive program of risk-based Internal Audit to add value and improve the operations of the University. The role is responsible for independent and objective assurance and advisory services to the university on the adequacy, efficiency and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls.

Main tasks

1. Facilitate effective Internal Audit processes

2. Enhance the Internal Control Environment

3. Continuous input for the combined assurance processes

4. Strategic Leadership and Management

5. Stakeholder Relations Management and Liaison

Minimum salary scale

R 1 386 060 Per annum

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or

Experience

Qualification at NQF 8 eg Honours/Postgrad Diploma in Auditing, Accounting or related discipline

A minimum of five (5) yearsxe2x80x99 experience at managerial level, providing assurance and consulting services in governance, risk management, and controls

Must be a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

Membership to Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

Extensive knowledge in areas of governance, risk management and leadership / strategy / management

Knowledge of relevant legislation, King IV Report on corporate governance requirements and International Auditing Standards

Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience

A Masterxe2x80x99s degree in either Auditing, Accounting or a related discipline, with 5 yearsxe2x80x99 relevant experience in Internal Audit Management

Recommended experience includes Internal control design, implementation and testing, experience in Higher education environment.
