Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to source and analyse data to generate business insights and to provide management information that supports the implementation of high-quality, data-driven decisions for the Currency Management Department (CMD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:


Have an understanding of data engineering principles (e.g. ETL) and tools (e.g. SQL and SSIS) and liaise with business intelligence (BI) developers to construct effective data models. Work closely with the business units within CMD to better understand and analyse their business requirements, data and metrics to find solutions to identified problems. Extract, clean and interpret data, formulate hypotheses and develop an analytical approach to resolve business problems, using the latest industry data tools (e.g. Python, API and CX). Provide insights and reports to support internal and external stakeholders in planning and decision-making. Analyse and assess business performance against CMD's key performance indicators, using internal and external qualitative and quantitative information to inform management decision-making. Develop and provide analytical reports and dashboards as required by the business areas to track production targets and various projects' performance trends. * Champion data interpretation and communicate knowledge, insights and recommendations in a clear, succinct and action-oriented manner in support of the CMD team and other key stakeholders.
