Main purpose of the job

Research informed design, development, facilitation, and review of the curriculum, learning programmes as well as the facilitation of academic staff development through improvement of the quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and in collaboration with faculties

Main tasks

1. Comply with policies and operational plans for the unit and the university

2. Manage and ensure implementation of the curriculum development activities

3. Coordinate, monitor and evaluate academic staff development

4. Manage the performance and development of staff

5. Conduct research on curriculum, teaching, learning, assessments, and higher education context

6. Monitoring and evaluation of the quality of teaching and learning

7. Coordinate and manage development, implementation, and learning

8.Provides reports internally and to other stakeholders

9. Participate in Community Engagement/ Services Learning initiatives

R 906 958 per annum

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or

Experience

Masters in Curriculum Studies / Higher Education or any relevant field

3 xe2x80x93 5 years Teaching and Learning & Curriculum Development Experience in Higher Education

Experience of conceptualising and developing programmes for academic staff development

Desired Qualification/ Knowledge And/ Or Experience

PhD in Curriculum Design and Development or Higher Education Studies.

5 - 7 years Teaching and Learning, Curriculum & Academic Staff Development Experience in Higher Education

Evidence of curriculum design and development related courses at Bachelor Honours or Postgraduate Diploma at NQF 8 in Higher Education

Experience of facilitating workshops in teaching and learning in higher education for academic staff

Understanding of theories underpinning curriculum development and its application in the South African Context.
