The Workshop Coordinator will be a key member of the G Africaxe2x80x99s Operations and Workshop Team. The position is very hands-on and the primary tasks include an overall responsibility for vehicles, camping and vehicle equipment and the workshop in South Africa. They will ensure the vehicles are in road worthy, safe, clean and appropriately branded condition, operating in compliance with Southern African law.

Responsibilities

This role is a hands-on role and while you will be required to do computer-based admin work, you will be predominantly working with the workshop team on basic mechanical admin and equipment management.

Overall responsibility for vehicles/workshop/workshop staff in Southern Africa.

Be an ambassador of the G Adventures core values and lead by example

Ensure consistency of vehicle branding according to G Adventures' brand policy.

Supervision of cleaning and packing vehicles and ordering spare parts and equipment.

Assist in Project management and supervision of new vehicle builds as required.

Provide new drivers/CEOs with basic mechanic skills training and provide driver coaching sessions.

Work closely with the Fleet and Regional Operations Manager on discipline regarding any breaches of the legal requirements when driving a vehicle in accordance with the requirements of the law

Assist where possible with on-road vehicle breakdowns and rescues.

Act as an Ambassador and role model of G Adventures' core values. Encourage workshop, office and global engagement through social channels.

Lead future business developments re workshops in Cape Town and assist in Nairobi.

Conduct business trips to the East Africa and other local workshops as required

Ensure maintenance of vehicles through maintenance of up-to-date vehicle log books, and overseeing drivers' log books and accounts with a particular interest in fuel management and economy (vehicle check-in and out with drivers, post and pre-tour departures safety checklist sign off).

Manage the safety, defects and vehicle damage reports and record, track and monitor costs involved from a legal perspective.

Manage and reduce costs through vehicle efficiencies, vehicle operations, tour logistics, inventory management, maintenance recording in job cards etc

Ensure the maintenance and repair of gear through vehicle check-in and check-out

Managing of the Equipment Repairs budget and the R&M budget

Managing of budgets, invoices and suppliers relevant to your position description and responsibilities

Manage the Vehicle USPs regarding training, staying up to date and providing innovative suggestions to stay ahead in our industry

Assist with fuel loyalty program etc.

Manage the logistics of spares around Southern and East Africa.

Managing the ordering and inventory of parts and the necessary spares for vehicles

Managing inventory in the workshop and general stock take

Manage all workshop digitisation of processes and maintenance such as digital job cards, vehicle inventory checklists, vehicle service history, equipment inventory and checklists.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of travel and tourism experience in Southern Africa.

Legally able to work in Southern Africa.

Experience in equipment and/or vehicle logistics and maintenance.

Experience working in a vehicle workshop

Basic (at a minimum) vehicle mechanical experience.

People management experience.

Advanced oral and written skills in English.

Charismatic with ability to motivate others.

Understanding and commitment to the G Adventures core values and business model.

Ability to manage a crisis and take responsibility for the safety of others.

Strong time and deadline management skills.

Flexible and positive attitude.

Good general business skill set including budgeting, accounting, and strategic planning.

Able and willing to travel internationally.

Familiarity with Region Geography is desirable.

Demonstrated decision-making abilities along with a take-charge leadership personality.

Weekend work as required by role (will be made up with time in lieu).
