Job Purpose
The purpose of the post is to promote good WIL and Service-Learning practices in the department through the implementation and coordination of strategies and projects to promote Work Integrated Learning and Service-Learning opportunities and placements for the department. The successful candidate will be required to provide leadership and mentorship to support various initiatives such as establishing new industry partners, coordinate advisory board meetings for the department, work preparedness and student placements, tracking departmental Alumni, student chapters and others.


Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements:



A relevant master's degree (candidate should be registered or willing to register for a PhD). A minimum of 2 years' relevant teaching experience in Higher Education

Working knowledge of WIL practices, systems and modules Working knowledge of WILL placement Applied knowledge of policies, legislation, labour and skills development relevant to WIL
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Facilitate the conceptualization and implementation of Work-Integrated Learning and Service Learning in the department.

Curriculum coordination-infusion of the 4 modalities (work-directed theoretical learning, problem-based learning, project-based learning and workplace learning) of WIL into all curricula Provide leadership in the department on Work-Integrated Learning and Service Learning Ensure compliance and enhancement in alignment with relevant institutional policies and strategies Monitor, review and report on all WIL & Service-Learning activities in the department. Curriculum development support for WIL Participate in Quality Assurance within the portfolio Liaison with Curriculum Officers, Teaching and Learning Coordinator & other similar units in other Faculties and with

Industry

Encourage and promote Work-Integrated Learning related studies, research and workshops Facilitate the development of scholarships for Co-op and Service Learning Serve as a link between the Centre for Community Engagement and Work-Integrated Learning and the department Prepare quarterly and annual report for the implementation of Work-Integrated Learning in the faculty Initiate, coordinate, record and market service-learning projects and other community engagement projects Liaise with professional bodies and Government SETA's Serve as the departmental representative at faculty committees Benchmark Work-Integrated Learning Follow up on student success Facilitate Work-Integrated Learning-related partnership agreements and administer the departmental 's interactive

partnerships database

Secure funding for WIL and Service-Learning interventions
Serve the faculty in various areas, such as graduate employment, projects, quality assurance, marketing and Curriculation Keep a Departmental academic workload (i.e lecture, supervise, research) Perform other functions as be assigned by Line Manager
