Responsible for the fabrication of agricultural equipment from metal, using jigs and fixtures.
RESPONSIBLE FOR FABRICATING AND WELDING:
Core Tasks:
+ Read written instructions and drawings to perform task at hand.
+ Weld components in flat and vertical positions.
+ Responsible for the use of welding machines to produce welds to fabricate components made from mild steel sections.
+ Responsible for the welding of small and larger components.
+ Assesses equipment, materials, for appropriate welding positions and methods.
+ Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or distortion, or expansion of material.
+ Operates specialised machinery for industrial welding.
+ Trims metal components using cutting torch or plasma.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Core Tasks:
+ Monitors equipment for appropriate usage and temperature.
+ Monitors work environment for hazards and maintain healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation.
+ Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
+ Ensures a safe working environment in conjunction with company standards, rules and applicable legislation.
PERFORMS CONTINIOUS QUALITY CONTROL:
Core Tasks:
Maintains a thorough knowledge of standards and specifications to meet building requirements as specified.
Develops working knowledge of methods used for welding of materials and components.
Trims metal components using cutting torch or plasma.
De-bur and grind metal, if necessary, at workstation to achieve proper finish
