Foreman
Responsible To/Supervision: Operations Manager/ Superintendent
Responsible For/Supervision Exercised: ALL PROCESS CONTROLLERS
Status: PERMANENT
Job Summary/Responsibility:
Co-ordinate tasks and activities associated with general maintenance and repair of the Bulk Water and or Bulk networks;
Assessing the acceptability of procedures, systems and controls associated with vehicle, plant, equipment and material availability and utilisation
Inspecting all Bulk Network maintenance requirements and reports defects/ structural failures
Plans and prioritises predictive maintenance programs and projects. Respond to urgent or unscheduled work requests
Comply to safety procedures and guidelines (Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993).
Routine inspection of manholes, storm water and water pipes and or storm water channels linked to the Bulk Works.
Adhere to Supply Chain Management procedures.
Coordinate and attends to procedural administrative requirements, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality
Monitor, evaluate and maintain water quality ensuring the sustainable supply of safe drinking water Keeping abreast of developments, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession
Participate in operational discussions and meetings
Execute tasks as described : work plan aligned with the Operating and Maintenance Manual.

The post is required to adjust the purification processes when test results indicate that the quality does not comply with the prescribed standards.
The post is authorized to take action and enforce regulations when non conformity or breach of OSHACT (Occupational Health & Safety Act, 85 of 1993) and guidelines controlling the facility and machinery or safe work practices is concerned.
The post is required to ensure that the treatment plant is operating for such period as to keep up with the demand and water quality requirements. This post is required to ensure optimal chemical and electricity usage.
This position is responsible to ensure that maintenance activities are reported and monitored.
ORGANISATIONAL:
Authorisation of subordinate leave and timesheets (within the prescribed guidelines).
This position is required to manage and oversee general activities of all subordinate levels, subcontractors and suppliers.
