Warehouse Supervisor



Overview



The successful appointee is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse operations, including managing staff, controlling and managing the accuracy of stock received and dispatched out of the warehouse, ensure inventory procedures are strictly managed, leading a team to ensure customer satisfaction and on time delivery. The warehouse supervisor shall need to be a key player in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the warehouse, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Minimum Experience & Qualifications Required



Matric Drivers license & own vehicle Forklift license (preferable but not mandatory) Tertiary qualification in Warehouse Management an advantage Minimum 5 years work experience in similar role Between 30-50 years of age Computer Literate - proficient on MS Word and Excel. Experience in earthmoving parts, particularly G.E.T and undercarriage a major advantage

Roles and Responsibilities



Supervise warehouse staff:


Assign tasks, monitor performance, provide feedback, and address any issues or conflicts.

Training and development:


Train new employees and ensure existing staff are up-to-date on procedures and safety protocols.

Motivation and leadership:


Motivate staff to achieve performance goals and maintain a positive work environment.

Performance management:


Evaluate employee performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.

Conduct bi-annual KPI's score cards for your team.

2. Inventory Management:

Receiving and shipping:


Oversee the receiving, storage, and shipment of goods, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Prepare daily delivery trips and supplier collections with drivers.

Inventory control:


Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular cycle counts, and resolve any discrepancies.

Highlight stock variances, action investigations and corrections with urgency.

Conduct spot checks in bin locations to ensure bin accuracy, managing weekly perpetual stock counts and full quarterly stock take audits of around 2600 line items.

Measure FIFO stock rotation principle, obsolete stock as well as expired/non-moving stock.

Order fulfillment:


Ensure that orders are picked, packed, and shipped efficiently and accurately.

Expedite branch stock orders timeously and accurately, ensuring collections/deliveries are well planned in advance.

Supply management:


Monitor inventory levels, order new warehouse supplies and equipment as needed, and manage storage space effectively.

Warehouse layout and organization:


Optimize the warehouse layout to improve efficiency and streamline workflows.

Ensuring the warehouse, dispatch area and yard is clean and orderly at all times.

Safety compliance:


Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Equipment maintenance:


Ensure that warehouse equipment is properly maintained and serviced to prevent downtime.

Ensuring Forklift and other equipment inspections are maintained as required.

Process improvement:


Identify areas for improvement in warehouse operations and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Reporting and documentation:


Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.

Checking of returned trip sheets and signed PODs

Communication with other departments:


Coordinate with other departments, such as logistics and procurement, to ensure smooth operations.

Escalating issues:


Identify and escalate issues to the warehouse manager or other relevant personnel when necessary.

Customer service:


Address customer concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues related to shipments and deliveries.

Troubleshooting:


Identify and resolve problems that arise during daily operations, such as delays, errors, or equipment malfunctions.

Resource allocation:


Effectively allocate resources, including staff, equipment, and time, to meet operational needs.

Salary: Dependant on experience and qualifications
