Job Description

The company is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to work as part of the supervisory team in the Logistics Department. The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry with a strong administrative background. The job incumbent will supervise the Warehouse Operators, Truck Driver and Warehouse Assistants reporting to them, and will report to the Assistant Logistics Manager.

Duties:

• Adhering to and maintaining all food safety, health, quality control and hygiene standards at all times
• Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures
• Maintaining all housekeeping standards and ensuring reportees comply with housekeeping requirements at all times
• Receiving Raw Materials: Monitoring the receiving of raw materials from suppliers at the warehouses, conducting visual inspections of the stock received, completing stock receiving checklists, receiving stock on the ERP system, printing license plates, liaising with the Assistant Logistics Manager regarding stock receiving progress and issues
• Monitoring and receiving bulk diesel
• Receiving Finished Goods: Monitoring the receiving of finished goods from carton room, conducting visual inspections on the packaging and boxes, verifying production and expiration dates, monitoring employees packing boxes onto pallets, calculating license plate totals and recording and reporting on stock received and total quantities
• Stock monitoring: Monitoring and ensuring stock is packed according to batch numbers, conducting visual inspections of boxes and pallets, recording and reporting on damaged boxes and pallets, verifying expiry dates on the boxes
• Stock take: Conducting monthly stock-take for internal and external warehouses (manual and scanner stock take) and recording stock information on stock sheets and on the ERP system
• Picking and packing: Delegating to and monitor warehouse employees picking, preparing orders and packing, based on batch sheets
• Shipping/dispatch: Conducting visual inspections on incoming and outgoing trucks and containers, recording and reporting damages, verifying dispatch details, allocating correct stock for dispatch, instructing employees to load stock as per dispatch instructions, monitor loading of trucks and containers, ensuring correct and undamaged stock is loaded and dispatched, reporting damages to stock, truck and containers
• Personnel Management: Overseeing and supervising the activities and HR administration of the Warehouse Operators, Truck Drivers and Warehouse Assistants, monitoring compliance of reportees to all company policies, procedures, standards and relevant legislation
• Overseeing the handover of the end-of-shift reports
• Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance as necessary

Requirements:

• Matric certificate with a tertiary qualification (certificate) in warehouse management or logistics
• Forklift license (will be advantageous)
• At least 7 years of warehousing experience
• At least 5 years of supervisory/team leader experience
• At least 5 years of experience working an FMCG environment/food industry
• Training and experience with Quality Control and Food Safety (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
• Basic logistics and supply chain training
• Well-developed knowledge of stock control and management
• Occupational Health and Safety training and experience (First aid and firefighting training)
• Strong computer literacy levels (MS Office, especially Excel and ERP systems: D365, i-Comply)
• Supervisory / team leader / people management experience
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent administrative record-keeping and filing skills (manual / electronic)
• High attention to detail, organised and systematic
• Must be willing and able to work shifts
