Warehouse Supervisor

Job Description


Our client in the steel industry, based in Durban, is searching for a Warehouse Supervisor.
The successful incumbent will possess the following:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Matric.
  • Tertiary qualification (advantageous).

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ensure effective stock control and conduct routine stock checks.
  • Ensure quality control of material.
  • Ensure that all goods received are of good quality, return damaged or reject goods immediately.
  • Ensure that all material received is accompanied by a material certificate and the correct paper work used for receiving and returning of material.
  • Ensure that all materials have the correct color codes and are clearly visible.
  • Ordering of consumables.
  • Create goods receive note, ensure that the correct goods are received and receipted.
  • Supplier delivery and quality of goods to be monitored monthly.
  • Handle customer queries.
  • Conduct daily shift/green area meetings before commencement of the shift.
  • To delegate the different tasks to the general assistants in the Warehouse.
  • Plan and discuss daily work scheduling, and provide feedback, to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Ensure that all daily checks have been carried out by the Warehouse Assistants.
  • Give clear and reasonable instructions to the Warehouse assistants to do order preparation, racking and movement of stock.
  • Enforce good health and safety practice and procedures.
  • Ensure that staff have proper safety wear at all times, and the correct tools to perform their duties effectively.
  • Ensure that employees have calibrated measuring equipment/tools.
  • Ensure the running of the warehouse meets ISO requirments.
  • All measuring equipment must be calibrated.
  • Scales, cranes, and forklifts must be load tested and certified for use.
  • Create service and maintenance control schedules for all machinery, air cons, fire equipment, vehicles and lifting equipment.
  • Assess building for upcoming repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all staff is trained and knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.
  • Plan and schedule training needs for employees, eg (Crane, forklift license, first aid, health and safety training.
  • Ensure that employees are trained and certified to operate any machinery i.e. forklifts, cranes, etc.
  • Ensure all staff files are updated and assessed regularly.
  • Monitor and manage time and attendance of Warehouse employees.
