INTRODUCTION

Komatsu South Africa is seeking a Storeman/warehouse operator with high work ethic to join our Gamsberg branch. The preferred candidate should have matric, N3 or NQF level4 and at least 1 year of experience in a warehouse environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 with Maths or NQF Level 4.

EXPERIENCE:

One year experience in warehouse environment, doing, picking, packing, receiving, or dispatching an advantage.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Computer literacy: MS Excel, MS Outlook, SAP Warehouse Management Module

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

  • Remain update to date with SHE procedures.
  • Implement the Komatsu Way 5S, sorting, organising, cleaning, order or training.
  • Adheres to SHE policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and instructs colleagues in wearing of protective gear and clothing.
  • Participates in workplace safety events.
  • Stay informed about emergency first aid kit and kits/fire extinguisher and evacuation procedure.
  • Operates any company vehicle (truck, car, forklift) within safety standard and procedures, even when supervised.
  • Implements safety awareness in all activities.
  • Reports hazardous situations, incidents and accidents and equipment that are not in good working order.
  • Adheres to warehouse plan with regard to binning/picking of stock.
  • Executes inbound and outbound materials handling activities.
  • Checks stock information against documentation and signs.
  • Counts quantities of stock upon receipt and checks its conditions.
  • Matches stock to the back-order documentation generated by the system.
  • Check issuing documents vs stock and verifies correct item issued.
  • Works closely with the administration function to control documentation and data accuracy of the system.
  • Assist with/or conducting daily cycle counts and adheres to control systems.
  • Reports damages, issues or problem related to stock immediately.
  • Reports on stock variances, write offs/write ups for review by management.
  • Participating in/executing perpetual stock counts, other cyclical stock counts or ad hoc stock counts as required.
  • Reports stock discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Executes WIP store stock control for parts and stock control for tools.
  • Maintains paperwork and systems as per procedure.
  • Transport stock items/mail/courier items to sites as required.
  • Escorts transport drivers who collect and deliver new or used machines to relevant sites/buildings or workshops.
  • Completes all the necessary paperwork, such as delivery notes, logs for receipt of documents, etc.
  • Report vehicles damages, incidents or problems immediately.
