Job Description

My client in the FMCG industry is looking for a dynamic Warehouse Manager in the Durban area.
The incumbent will be required to oversee all daily operations of the Warehouse.
The incumbent will be responsible for supervising employees and management of customer satisfaction, among other responsibilities.
The responsibilities shall include, but not to be treated as an exhaustive list, namely:
Opening and Closing of the Warehouse.
Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, overseeing stock control, and ensuring efficient storage and organization of goods.
Supervision of Warehouse Staff: Training, and managing warehouse staff, including assigning tasks, setting schedules, and monitoring performance.
Safety and Compliance: Implementing and enforcing safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all warehouse employees.
Optimizing Space Utilization: Strategically arranging warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity and efficiency in picking, packing, and shipping processes.
Logistics Coordination: Coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, including receiving goods, inspecting for quality, and coordinating transportation and delivery schedules.
Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to ensure they are in good working condition.
Process Improvement: Continuously seeking opportunities to streamline warehouse processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
Communication: Liaising with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and customer service, to ensure smooth coordination of activities and timely fulfilment of orders.
Budget Management: Monitoring expenses related to warehouse operations and identifying areas for cost savings while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Quality Control: Implementing quality control measures to ensure accuracy in picking and packing orders, as well as monitoring inventory for damages or defects.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, transactions, and other warehouse activities, and generating reports as needed for management review.
Customer Service: Resolving any issues or complaints related to warehouse operations in a timely and professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Overall, the Warehouse Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of a warehouse facility, from managing inventory and staff to overseeing safety and compliance measures.

  • Grade 12 (matric) is essential.
  • Tertiary qualifiaction would be an added benefit.
  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing/FMCG/logistics environment.
  • 5+ years in a managerial capacity.
  • Attentive and analytical with administrative tasks.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Successful follow through.
  • Self-motivation and desire for self-development/improvement.
  • Team player.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
