The Warehouse Manager at Barrows Dube Warehouse is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of warehouse operations, with a strategic focus on asset tracking, inventory control, and dispatch coordination. This role ensures the accurate receipt, secure storage, and timely dispatch of goods and assets, while upholding operational excellence, safety compliance, and continuous improvement. The manager will optimize workflows, and maintain the integrity of all tracked assets in alignment with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
Oversee daily warehouse functions including receiving, storage, dispatch, and returns.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of all inbound and outbound shipments.
Implement and enforce warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.
Maintain optimal warehouse layout and organization to support efficiency, safety, and scalability.
Coordinate pre-receiving activities by confirming delivery schedules with suppliers and internal departments to prevent congestion and delays.
Enforce packing standards to minimize damage and ensure and proper documentation.
Conduct trend analysis to identify seasonal patterns, operational bottlenecks, and recurring issues, and report findings to the National Warehouse Manager.
Asset Tracking & Inventory Management
Ensure real-time accuracy of inventory records and asset movement using tracking technologies (e.g., RFID, barcode).
Conduct regular cycle counts, full stock counts, and inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, losses, or anomalies in asset tracking and inventory data.
Logistics & Dispatch Coordination
Plan and coordinate daily dispatch schedules based on delivery priorities and transport availability.
Coordinate effectively with the transport team and relevant internal departments to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of goods.
Monitor dispatch performance metrics and implement corrective actions to address delays or inefficiencies.
Ensure all outbound goods are properly documented, packaged, and tracked according to company standards.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for audits, inspections, and operational reporting.
Generate and present reports on warehouse KPI's and inventory metrics.
Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) required.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in warehouse management, ideally within an asset tracking or high-volume logistics environment.
Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and asset tracking technologies.
Proven organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Familiarity with safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation practices.
Valid driver's license and forklift certification (advantageous).
Working Conditions
Based at Barrows Dube KZN.
May require flexible working hours including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
Physical activity including walking, lifting, and operating warehouse equipment is required.
