Job Description

BASED DURBAN







The Warehouse Consumable Controller is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities relating to consumable stock within the warehouse. This includes receiving, verification, storage, and issuing of consumable products, ensuring accuracy on Syspro, adherence to FIFO principles, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Extended hours or Overtime will be a requirement to ensure operational efficiency.





KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS







Supervisory and Operational Control:



Supervise and coordinate daily consumable warehouse operations, ensuring accurate and timely receipt, storage, and issue of consumable stock. Allocate tasks to Consumable Controllers and Warehouse Assistants to meet operational priorities. Ensure adherence to safety standards, warehouse rules, and housekeeping procedures. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to staff. Liaise with Dispatch, Procurement, and Operations to ensure alignment of stock availability with customer requirements.


Syspro and Stock Administration:



Process all consumable stock transactions on Syspro, including receipts, issues, and adjustments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date system records to reflect physical stock movements. Conduct daily and weekly system-to-physical reconciliations to prevent discrepancies. Generate and submit stock reports, highlighting variances or potential shortages. Investigate stock discrepancies, document findings, and implement corrective actions.


Technical and Physical Duties:



Supervise and, where necessary, assist in the loading and offloading of consumable stock (approx. 1 tonne daily). Ensure proper unpacking, sorting, and placement of products on shelving (up to 3.5m height) using safe handling methods. Enforce strict adherence to First-In, First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation principles. Receive and verify deliveries (approx. 15 pallets per shipment) against supplier invoices and purchase orders. Inspect all received goods for quality and quantity accuracy; report non-conformances to the Buyer. Oversee the correct storage, labelling, and segregation of consumables. Manage waste disposal and recycling of packaging materials in accordance with company sustainability practices. Conduct quarterly and ad-hoc stock takes and ensure accurate reconciliation.


Communication and Reporting:



Communicate with the Buyer on stock replenishment requirements, shortages, and quality concerns. Submit daily Syspro updates and weekly reports to the Warehouse Manager. Ensure that all consumable stock documentation (Picking Sheets, Invoices, Delivery Notes) is accurate and filed systematically. Escalate any operational risks or delays impacting stock availability.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS





Matric / Grade 12. Minimum 3 years' experience in warehouse or stock control, preferably in consumables. Minimum 1-2 years' supervisory experience. Experience in Syspro (or similar ERP) essential. Driver's License (Code 08) and own vehicle required. Forklift or pallet jack handling experience advantageous. Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
