Purpose of Job
Provide strategic direction on integrated strategic planning processes as well as short and medium term planning, geological assessments and projections, mine closure and rehabilitation, business development, lands and rights acquisitions and administration and new technology and mining process, to ensure consistent supply of quality coal. Perform integrated optimization planning across all relevant business activities.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Develop guidelines and monitoring to ensure quality short-, medium- and long-term planning and companywide co-ordination of mine planning, integration and optimisation.
Coordinates and assists with preparing technical detail relating to the annual budget and capital projects, e.g ventilation shafts and infrastructure.
Design, improve and optimise planning and optimisation processes across the operation ensuring optimal deployment of sections and mines enabling the maximum coal extraction at lowest cost.
Develop flexible planning and optimisation frameworks and tactics that mitigate risks and challenges with Mining Collieries ensuring optimal production.
Oversee the assessment and timeous provision of accurate geological assessments and information regarding ore body to minimise the risk of surprises and unexpected geological incidents.
Provide rehabilitation and mine closure guidelines and expertise services.
Ensure the procurement of mining rights and properties to meet the demand requirements.
Researches new mining technology and mining methods and processes to ensure that Sasol Mining remains competitive.
Apply evidence-based SHE practices, in alignment with set standards, to ensure safe operations as well as playing a role in the reduction of Sasol's GHG footprint.
Ensure the effective implementation of Sasol's risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.
