Job Description

The Village Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred nursing care that promotes resident health, safety, and independence within the village. The role focuses on proactive health monitoring, clinical care delivery, medication management, emergency response, and coordinated care planning for residents across assisted and independent living
Duties & Responsibilities

• Promoting Resident Health & Independence - Providing proactive nursing support, health monitoring, and wellness checks to ensure residents maintain a safe and independent lifestyle for as long as possible.o Delivering Quality Clinical Care - Managing clinics at Rathfelder, Riverside (walk-ins), and Fernbridge (Clinic Hour), providing accurate assessments, administering treatment, and ensuring continuity of care.o Medication & Care Management - Overseeing medication administration, TB care, script renewals, and liaising with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.o Emergency Preparedness & Response - Acting swiftly in emergencies, attending to falls, coordinating with ambulance services and families, and being on standby when required to safeguard residents' lives and well-being.o Care Coordination & Supervision - Collaborating with the Care Manager, supporting private caregivers, participating in vulnerability and family meetings, and ensuring care plans are effectively implemented.o Resident & Family Engagement - Building trusting relationships through health education, emotional support, and ongoing communication with residents and their families.o Governance & Compliance - Upholding CPOA's values, policies, and regulatory standards to ensure ethical, safe, and person-centred care delivery

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).o Minimum of 3 years' nursing experience, preferably in geriatric care or community health.o Current knowledge of medication management, TB care, wound care, and chronic disease management.o Experience with digital healthcare documentation systems (e.g., Digi Age) advantageous.

Package & Remuneration
Basic Salary: R 20,000 - R 25, 000Plus: Cell-phone Allowance, Medical Aid: Discovery, Pension Fund, Funeral BenefitAnnual Leave: 15 days per annum Accommodation: This is a live-in position. The Village Nurse is required to reside on-site to ensure accessibility for after-hours and weekend emergencies. Accommodation will be provided within the facility, and the nurse is expected to be available for standby duties as outlined under Emergency Response. Details regarding accommodation, utilities, and related terms will be specified in the employment contract
