Video Editor (Remote, Short-Form Social Content)

The Role

We are a fast growing e-commerce brand. As a Video Editor you'll turn raw footage and ideas into polished, high-performing short-form videos. You'll understand how to use

hooks, pacing, captions, and platform-native editing

to maximise attention and retention -- not just make something that "looks nice."

This role is for someone who

lives and breathes social content

and knows what works on TikTok, Instagram, and Meta.

What You'll Do

Edit

short-form social content

(clips, mashups, UGC-style, branded content). Apply

performance-first editing principles

: strong hooks in the first 3 seconds, tight pacing, and clarity over complexity. Ensure edits feel

native to the platform

while still reflecting our brand identity. Add captions, b-roll, motion graphics, and sound design to boost engagement. Re-cut and test variations of edits to find the strongest performing versions. Maintain an organised workflow for projects, file management, and revisions. Keep up with

trends and editing techniques

on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Shorts.

What We're Looking For

Proven experience editing

short-form social content

for brands, creators, or agencies. A strong portfolio showing

TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts work

. Proficiency in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve). A deep understanding of

hooks, retention strategies, and pacing

. Ability to deliver edits

quickly without sacrificing quality

. Creative problem-solving skills -- especially when working with mixed-quality raw footage. Fluent English and strong contextual awareness. Excellent communication and ability to work independently.

Bonus Points If You

Have experience editing

UGC-style videos

as well as branded content. Understand how editing impacts

performance metrics

(watch time, CTR, engagement). Have motion graphics skills to add polish to creatives. Can give creative input to improve scripts or raw footage.
