Summary
Our client is on a mission to guarantee the best possible living conditions for big cats, creating a life free from suffering for every animal in their care. Their special care unit provides refuge and healing to traumatised leopards, lions, and tigers from across the globe, offering them a safe haven and the opportunity to recover from past hardships. With dedication and ongoing improvements, the sanctuary has already provided a life-long home for around 100 magnificent big cats.
They are now seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join their team. This is not a conventional clinical role - it is a truly unique opportunity that goes far beyond routine veterinary work. The position encompasses caring for rescued big cats holistically, including their medical needs, nutrition, behaviour, welfare, and husbandry. Each animal comes with its own history, often marked by trauma, and requires a veterinarian with deep empathy, patience, and commitment to help them thrive.
Both experienced veterinarians seeking a meaningful career change and newly qualified candidates eager to embark on an extraordinary path are encouraged to apply.
If you are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of rescued big cats and would like to contribute to their journey of recovery, please contact amanda@optivet.co.za for more information or apply online.
