Job Summary PURPOSE OF JOB To lead a quality and safe patient care experience that meets the set clinical standards through the optimal management of human and organisational resources within a structured unit. Please note that the Unit Manager for the Critical Care Unit (ICU) will also be responsible for the management of a smaller Neonatal ICU. EDUCATION REQUIRED SANC registered RN with Postgraduate qualification in the Critical Care (ICU) Nursing education qualification; Nursing management qualification (not essential) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED At least 5 years professional nursing experience in a hospital; 2-3 years leadership experience in a hospital Infection Prevention and Control experience Clinical Facilitation of staff Experience in Neonatal ICU. REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Auditing and accreditation processes Clinical risk management Computer literate (Microsoft Office) Continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies Financial management Human resource processes including employee relations Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols Management of staff productivity Nursing functional knowledge Patient complaint management Relevant nursing legislation
