About the role
The Unit Administrator Intern will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the department/unit to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in office administration, data management, coordination of internal processes, and communication within a professional environment. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn about administrative functions in a dynamic work setting.
Operations Requirements

  • Perform general administrative duties to support the efficient functioning of the unit.
  • Manage reception duties at the nurses station, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Engage professionally with visitors and patients relatives, providing assistance and information as needed.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional nurses station.
  • Order and collect stationery and office supplies as required.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and billing processes.
  • Support stock take activities, including preparation and documentation.
  • Capture daily statistics and assist in compiling monthly reports.
  • Take minutes during meetings and ensure timely distribution of records.
  • Assist the Operational Manager and staff with various ad hoc administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate with the shift leader to call and book staff as required.
  • Prepare patient files upon admission and discharge, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Deliver patient records and files to the billing department in a timely manner.
  • Manage patient files, ensuring all charts and documents are up to date and properly filed.
  • Prepare monthly staff files, including printing duty rosters and delegation books.
  • Schedule job cards and liaise with maintenance for timely resolution of unit-related issues.
Working Conditions
  • This work requires the employee to work 8 hours from Monday to Friday.

Minimum Requirements
  • South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
  • Must not have participated on the programme before.
  • Matric
  • Computer Literate
