Job Description

Review, approve, or decline all underwriting referrals that fall outside of UMA mandates
Source and secure facultative or special acceptance support for risks exceeding treaty limits
Ensure underwriting aligns with special acceptance guidelines.
Prepare, review, and distribute reinsurance renewal packs in collaboration with internal stakeholders and UMAs
Gather and validate relevant data and documentation for treaty renewal discussions
Negotiate treaty terms with reinsurers and secure required treaty support
Maintain strong relationships with UMAs, treaty partners, and facultative reinsurers
Engage regularly with key stakeholders to align expectations, resolve queries, and communicate outcomes
Process monthly and quarterly reinsurance payments, including facultative and excess of loss premiums
Ensure all financial transactions comply with contractual terms and internal controls
Skills & Experience:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and ability to review complex data
Effective verbal and written communication
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement abilities
Proficient in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel (Power BI advantageous)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Qualification:
Bachelors Degree in one of the following: Insurance, Risk Management, BCom, Actuarial Science, Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, or Law (LLB/BCom Law)
Minimum 24 years experience within the insurance or financial services industry
Strong understanding of reinsurance concepts and structures (preferably with experience in reinsurance)
Preferred:
Experience working in or alongside reinsurance companies or with treaty agreements
