To operate the Tyre Fitter in line with Tharisa Minerals operating standards by safely repairing damaged tyres, fitting and balance new tyres. To correctly inflate tyres to increase tyres life while maintaining tyres on all mobile equipment , including repairing and fitting all tyres for all tyre equipment on the mine.
Role Context
Health and Safety
Conduct risk and safety inspections, identifying and reporting any risks within the allocated area of operations and completing the requisite checklist recording the associated risks.
Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all equipment within the area
Ensure proper access control in the work area
Conduct continuous risk assessments throughout the day by proactively identifying and reporting identified risks within the areas of operation and collaborating with the various departments to support and maintain a safe working environment.
Promote a culture of Zero harm and emphasize compliance to Tharisa Minerals policies, values, and ethics, so as to cultivate a workplace culture focused on safety and adherence to company policies, values, and ethical standards.
Equipment Operations
Maintain tyres on all mobile equipment, including repairing and fitting all tyres for all tyre equipment on the mine.
Ensure that repairs are done to the prescribed standards
Perform activities in allocated/planned timeframe
Schedule equipment for tyre repairs and changes, for the matching of tyres, inflating of tyres, replacing of spacers, rings, studs, bolts and nuts on wheel hubs
Ensure tyre matching is correct as per millimetres, brand, size and design
Ensure punctuality and quality of repairs and servicing
Eliminate failures and breakdowns
Communicate with supervisor to inform on activities performed and availability of equipment
Ensure stock levels of all items required for the completion of duties
Daily Planning
Work in line with the established timelines and pressures by driving adherence to the daily and weekly operational plans as well as prioritising adhoc daily requests for movements of loads outside of the allocated 'block/s'.
Work according to the daily and weekly plan by engaging with the supervisor to understand the intended targets and notifying them of any potential delays (due to breakdowns or any other causes) to enable continuous monitoring of target achievements.
Qualifications:
Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
Code 10 Drivers Licence
Mounting and dismounting of tyres certificate
Job-specific experience:
2 years' experience in similar role, preferably in a mining environment.
