The Amy Foundation wishes to appoint a Trustee with a legal background to support our Board in achieving its objectives and to act as company secretary. The position is a non-paying and the applicant agrees to allocate their time to at 4 board meetings a year pro bono and, any other times like an annual strategy session. The Trustee will be one of 6 Trustees, responsible for keeping the Trust on track to make sure the best outcome for the organisation is always achieved.
The position is most suitable for someone who resides in Cape Town.
Role description

This Trustee, as company secretary will be responsible for taking minutes of board meetings, preparing, and sending board packs and all other duties required of a company secretary. This Trustee will also need to ensure the minutes of each meeting is circulated for approval prior to the next meeting.
The statutory duties of all trustees are to:
Ensure good governance and that the organisation complies with the Trust Deed and other relevant legislation or regulations.
Contribute actively in giving strategic direction to the organisation.
Use any specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the board reach sound decisions.
Selection requirements
Bachelor's and or advance qualification in law
At least 10 years practical work experience
Knowledge and the environment in which the Amy Foundation operates, through personal or professional connections,
Prior experience of committee/ board/ trustee work.
Knowledge of the type of work undertaken by Amy Foundation.
Candidate must reside in the Western Cape.
