to oversee the parts department of a busy commercial vehicle dealership. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of parts inventory, supplier relationships, customer service, and team supervision to ensure high levels of productivity and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the truck parts department.
Ensure optimal inventory levels, ordering, and stock control to reduce obsolescence.
Source and procure parts from OEMs and approved suppliers at the best possible price and quality.
Supervise, lead, and motivate a team of parts sales personnel and store assistants.
Develop and implement strategies to drive parts sales growth, both over-the-counter and internally.
Maintain strong relationships with service and workshop teams to ensure quick parts turnaround.
Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide technical assistance when needed.
Monitor department KPIs, budgets, and targets, ensuring profitability and efficiency.
Conduct regular stock audits, reporting, and reconciliation activities.
Stay up to date with new truck models, aftermarket parts, and supplier offerings.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric (Grade 12); relevant post-matric qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Automotive Management is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a parts management role within a
commercial vehicle or trucking dealership
.
Strong knowledge of truck parts (OEM and aftermarket) and industry suppliers.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams.
Computer literate - experience in Dealer Management Systems (DMS) such as Automate, Kerridge, or SAP.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
