We are a leading transport and logistics group seeking an experienced
Workshop Supervisor
to lead and manage the maintenance and repair operations across our national fleet. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, technically skilled leader with strong experience in vehicle diagnostics, workshop operations, team management, and adherence to health and safety standards within a transport or fleet-intensive environment.
Requirements:
Matric (Grade 12) - essential
Certificate/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Mechanical Studies, or related field (advantageous).
Valid driver's licence.
3-5 years experience in a transport/maintenance/workshop environment.
Experience managing truck and trailer spares.
Experience with stock control systems or inventory management software
Manage and maintain accurate stock levels of all transport-related spares.
Perform monthly stock counts and audits.
Ensure proper storage, labelling, and organization of spare parts.
Track and record all parts issued to mechanics and vehicles.
Purchase of truck, trailer, and equipment spares at competitive prices.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and budget controls.
Ensure mechanics receive the correct spares on time.
Identify frequently used spares and adjust stock levels accordingly.
Work closely with the workshop team to forecast upcoming parts needs.
Capture all parts transactions on the system (e.g., Pastel, ERP, Fleet Management software).
Prepare monthly reports on stock usage, costs, and variances.
Track warranties, returns, and defective spares.
Ensure storage and handling of parts follow OHS/SHEQ standards.
Keep documentation accurate for audit purposes.
Ensure all spares are compliant with OEM specifications.
