GLOBAL CONSULTING FIRM is currently growing their team of dynamic consulting professionals.

As you lead work within the Transport Practice you will also have the opportunity to work across all their other business practices when needed, supporting short-term consulting and longer-term project implementation assignments.

A natural communicator and problem solver who thrives in working with complex detail and strategically developing projects solution proposals for Clients.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing teams of consultants and external experts to deliver client assignments in a fast-paced environment and owning project deliverables, in a South African and possibly international context.
• Managing cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams tackling complex business, economic and social challenges for clients whilst owning project deliverables.
• Leading client engagements and relationships in the transport practice.
• Defining client problems concisely, in simple terms, and developing hypotheses to identify solutions, working collaboratively with clients.
• Leading or coordinating quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify suitable solutions. This includes applying:

• Quantitative research methodologies, including data mining, creating financial models, and other analysis.
• Qualitative research methodologies, including the development of case studies to identify best practices and benchmarks
• Playing an active role in driving the growth of the team through business acquisition, through direct sales activities and responding to tendered public sector opportunities.
• Building & maintaining active networks with technical partners, clients, and key stakeholders in the transport sector.
• Structuring work assignments and problem-solving approaches.
• Producing high quality research, analysis and communications related to work in the transport sector.
• Acting as hub of expertise focusing on strategy and policy formulation, for clients and internal teams.
• Leading implementation processes for large, multi-disciplinary initiatives.
• Supporting clients to apply for, secure, and deploy budget into national and international transport projects.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

• Minimum of a undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Transport Economics, Transport Engineering, Urban Planning, Development Studies, Public Policy, Law, Finance, International Relations or related field.
• 7-12 Years consultancy or business advisory experience with exposure to transport or related sectors.
• Experience in managing and delivering consulting assignments and comfort with client and contract management.
• Proven leadership skills and comfort with undertaking, and guiding junior colleagues in, the delivery of quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform proposals and recommendations to clients .

Preferred

• Experience of working in Africa and other frontier markets.
• Experience in the formal public sector, including Integrated Public Transport Networks (IPTNs), or related sectors.
• Experience in the informal public transport sector, its transformation and empowerment or related sectors.
• Experience with projects in the public sector, across national, provincial and local spheres of government.
