Purpose of the Job
The Operations Manager will oversee various aspects of the broader operational environment within our Transport Centre of Excellence.
Transport Operations:
Availability of staff and vehicles to meet scheduling requirements.
Expense management according to budget - fuel, repairs and maintenance, staff, vehicle hire, tyres, etc.
Selection and evaluation of service contractors and suppliers
Service relations with various DC environments
Monitoring daily and weekly registers - Toll cards, attendance, breakdowns, fines, wash bay and pre- / post-inspeciton trips
Follow up on daily queries form drivers and stores
Daily performance reports
Any other operational tasks that influence the efficiency of the Transport Operations
Staff Management in relation to their:
Assessments, training, discipline
Monitoring / debriefing driver performance
Administration of:
Financial / admin systems, procedures, internal controls
Management reports / information
Budget Planning
Insurance claims, investigation and reporting thereof
Licensing requirements for drivers/vehicles including PDP's and COF's
Staff payroll and record keeping

Job Objectives
The Transport Operations Manager is required to oversee, direct and effectively manage various transport - related processes and procedures ensuring that the branch operates at an optimal level.
Qualifications
Minimum of Grade 12
Possession of / studying towards relevant tertiary qualificatio
Experience
Successful track record at management level in a similar position. This role must have included: Financial / expense management including/or pertaining to the budget process.
Technical knowledge about the industry will be an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
Thorough working knowledge of disciplinary / grievance handling procedures.
Good interpersonal skills at management and staff level
Excellent leadership skills
Good level of computer literacy
