We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Training Specialist to lead high-impact training in foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) for teachers, facilitators, and programme implementers. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in adult learning methodologies, a deep understanding of early years education, and a track record of delivering engaging, evidence-based training at scale. This role is crucial insupporting education systems and practitioners to improve teaching practices and outcomes in early grade literacy and mathematics.
Objectives of Role
Design, adapt and deliver high-quality training programmes on foundational literacy and numeracy aligned with national or organisational standards.
Provide mentorship and support to trainers, teacher mentors, and instructional coaches.
Conduct training needs assessments and contribute to the development of tailored training strategies.
Collaborate with curriculum developers and M&E teams to align training with programme goalsand learner outcomes.
Review and contribute to the development of training materials, manuals, and toolkits.
Model best-practice teaching methodologies, including differentiated instruction and inclusive pedagogies.
Contribute to ongoing training quality assurance and impact evaluations.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree in education, Literacy, Mathematics, or related field (master'spreferred).
Extensive experience (5+ years) designing and delivering training for educators, particularly in early literacy and numeracy.
Multilingual capacity or experience training in multilingual contexts.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmento Strong understanding of early grade pedagogy, foundational learning principles, and curriculum frameworks.
Proven ability to facilitate adult learning using participatory and reflective approaches.
Demonstrated ability to work across diverse contexts, including rural or low-resource settings.
Background in early literacy or foundational learning materials.
Experience with digital learning tools or blended training models.
Experience working with NGOs, government departments, or large-scale education programmes.
Knowledge of assessment tools and frameworks related to foundational literacy and numeracy (e.g. EGRA, EGMA).
