SGS Matrolab is seeking to fulfil key roles as Civil Engineering Trainee -Site Laboratory Managers on various sites in Limpopo, Free State, North West and Mpumalanga. To assist the Supervisor/ Laboratory Manager with all managerial and laboratory related tasks, whether it's on site or in the commercial laboratory. To assist the Laboratory Manager with checking that all equipment is cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. To assist the laboratory manager with ensuring materials testing are completed in all laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing. The Trainee Laboratory Manager will assist the Laboratory Manager with the checking that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work-related instructions from the technicians/supervisors or authorized personnel.

• A Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to assist with the accreditation and Health and Safety regulations requirements are adhered to in and around the laboratory.
• A Trainee Laboratory Manager is to assist the management team on site to ensure the correct test methods are followed.
• A Trainee Laboratory Manager is to assist the management team on site to ensure complinace to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
• A Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to assist the technicians/ laboratory manager/ assistant laboratory manager with any job whether it is on site or inside the laboratory as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor /laboratory manager.
• A Trainee Laboratory Manager is responsible to perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
• A Trainee Laboratory Manager to ensure he familiarize him/herself with the industry specifications and standards including but not limited to COLTO, TG2, SANAS

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Clear Criminal Record - proof will be required
• Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering
• Proven years within the Civil Materials Testing Laboratory with knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through - Recognition of Prior Learning.
• Proficiency in various types of computer software (full MS office package Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Experience * Competent and qualified to do all tests in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete / aggregate

• Do all calculations in full related to the tests mentioned above
• Control laboratory activities such as quality control under supervision.
