Job Description

The successful candidate should have sound knowledge / experience as follows:

Man, Tanker Basins for duration of vessel's loading and / or discharging

To ensure effective radio communication between vessel and various oil terminals operational departments.

To ensure the safe handling of products as per the safe work practice laid down by the company, Astron and Port Authorities.

Record all data on log sheets and plant logbook and give effective hand over at end of shift.

To align all systems as per instructions to avoid spills and contamination.

To ensure all product samples are taken as per standard and per request by senior personnel.

To liaise with the client refinery operations department, ship's crew, shipping agents, marine inspectors, port authorities and management.

Do TK25D1 & TK25D2 month end and calculate and submit quantities to the client.

Know the properties of the various products when manning the Tanker basins during line flushed to avoid product contamination and excess slopping of product.

To ensure the effective P.P.E. attire.

Ensure company vehicles are maintained, and inspections are carried out.

Liaise with senior personnel via telephone regarding problems and plant conditions.

Deliver or arrange for samples to be delivered to the Laboratory.

To carry out any other function where possible in order to maintain the efficiency of the services offered to our customers.

Any special functions which may be delegated for the Area Manager, Operations Manager and Harbor Services Supervisor on an individual basis.

Ensure that all Compliance, Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental work practices within the Cape Town Region Operation are constructed and conducted safely and ensure that all hazards are identified and controlled
